CUP FEVER IN SAWSTON

As if the fantastic achievement of 7th in the league (this wouldn’t ordinarily be a fantastic achievement as we are capable of much more, but after losing 8 on the bounce, relegation was a possibility at one stage) wasn’t enough Sawston are now playing in the rather inaccurately named Cambridgeshire County (Junior) Cup Final on Saturday. Firstly we are not juniors and apart from Ashley we are grown men. Secondly, we are playing a team from Suffolk in the final after beating a team from Essex in the semi. So, now we have established that it is neither Junior nor Cambridgeshire county I am happy to announce an unofficial sponsorship deal with Heineken for the deciding match. To celebrate this new deal and increase the number of potential supporters we have decided to rename it the Heineken Cup Final.

So if you fancy watching the Heineken Cup final this Saturday 9th May please come down to the Sawston Village College pitches. Seriously, support makes a huge difference to the team and especially me because I am an exhibitionist. The more people that see me drop the ball, miss a tackle and skew a kick the happier I am.

Kick off is 3pm and of course beer will be on offer before hand to enhance your enjoyment of this high level of rugby.

For added spice we are playing Mildenhall who have the former Sawston stalwarts Ben and Sam Dean playing for them. They say there is nothing like friendly rivalry and based on the comments on the chat pages this will be nothing like friendly rivalry.

It should be a great game, see you there!

P.S. To any Heineken Lawyers who happen to come across this page my name is Christopher Shaw from Chesterton, Cambridge please feel free to sue me for misadvertising…

However, if you want to provide us with some free beer for the event my name is Dan Oldridge from Lower Cambourne.
