With only two days to go.

The countdown is on with only two days to go until the Junior (or senior) Cambridgeshire (or world) cup final being held at Sawston this weekend.

Our reporter has finally tracked down Sawston Captain Wilf.

Reporter: “It’s undoubtedly a big game this weekend, you’ve played in a few, how important is this game for you and the boys?”

Wilf: “It’s a biggy, the season has been up and down and it would be great to end with a flourish. It’s going to be a tough game and we are a little bit down on numbers, with a few players suffering long term injuries and a few more away enjoying a bit of early sunshine. If we play to our potential we could win. I’ll know more after training tonight”

Reporter “What about the Sam Dean factor”

Wilf: “It is a real shame that Sam has left Sawston, he trained hard but found it difficult to make it into the first team squad in the position he demanded to play in. The trouble is that we have players better suited to the centres than Sam and you can’t demand to play in a position then wander off sulking when you get substituted, especially when you were having a bad game. I really hope he does well on Saturday though, he’s a good bloke, words of advice to his skipper, don’t substitute him, he’ll be playing for Newmarket in his next game ”

Reporter: “What is the game plan for Saturday?”

Wilf: “The game plan is to score more than the opposition”

Reporter “Is that it?”

Wilf “Yes”

Reporter “don’t captains normally have more of a plan than that?”

Wilf “As I understand it most do, they write things down and draw pictures”

Reporter “Why don’t you do these things?”

Wilf “I’m a forward”

Reporter “Well at least you have a coach to help you”

Wilf “it’s ok I live just down the road, I’ll probably walk to the game”

Reporter “thanks Wilf it has been a pleasure”

Tomorrow the final interview – Pete “Fluffy” Hume reveals his softer side…
