Sawston 12 - St Neots 36

Saturday saw a big semi final clash between the Sawston 2nds and St Neots 3rds. Sawston were pumped up from the off but St Neots took first blood. Sawston hit back with a great run from Tom and excellent support play Glenn who finished off with a great try. Mark coolly slotted the conversion. We were holding on to the lead but struggling at the scrum and lineout against their far heavier forwards. They struck back with a couple of tries. We went in at half time still in with a sniff and came out for the second half with a positive attitude. Seeing that we had the advantage in the backs a good move released James to run from deep to finish of with a brilliant try. St Neots scored again with a lucky bounce of the ball. James continued to cause havoc on his wing with his searing pace and clever kicking. After being dubiously brought down after a searching kick and chase things boiled over but were brought back under control by strong refereeing. To Sawston’s great credit we continued to fight right up until the final whistle.
Captains Corner
A good display can’t complain about the effort we all put in 100% for the whole match. The standouts were Olly who was complimented by the St Neots front row on his skills considering his limited time in the game. Tris was everywhere playing on the flank for us then for the firsts and came back and played on the wing for us with some great runs. Wayne had a great game at outside centre and James Dean was outstanding on the wing.
