They think it's all over...

...and the league is now.

The league table still needs a bit of tidying up with the Hertford and Shelford games still to be awarded but it makes no difference to the final result. Following our emphatic victory against Bishop's Stortford on Saturday, Sawston have now been confirmed as Green King Super Premier League Runners Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out the full table and results at http://www.greenekingrugby.co.uk/results/Supremresults.htm

This is a massive achievement for the club and I think everyone would admit that this is more than we were expecting at the start of the season. It is a direct product of the hard work that the players have put in over the season to make such a massive leap up the table. We've gone from being almost relegated with only 3 wins last year (luckily our win against the Enginyers counted for 2 so the record will actually say we won 4) to winning (probably) 13 league games this year.

Of course the players effort would have not been anywhere near enough if it were not for the coaches who have done a great job this year. Chris, Robin and James have transformed the way we play and their efforts have really made a difference.

The second team have also put in some absolutely magnificent performances. So much so they have sometimes struggled to find anyone who actually want to play them! With some great new players like Frazer, Tris, Henry... the list goes on... there is no reason why they shouldn't be competing for a 1st team spot next year. The future is bright.

Lets not forget the huge improvement in the standard of food either. Who'd have thought we'd ever serve a homemade Thai Green Curry at Sawston? Thanks again to Sam, Sabrina and Hazel for your culinary efforts over the year!

And of course it is not over yet, we have 1 more match to play. The small matter of the Super Cup Final against Bishop's Stortford at Ely Rugby club this Saturday.

I'd recommend the day to anyone as there are 5 or 6 games on the same day and usually a pretty festive atmosphere. It should be an awesome game as I'm sure BS will want revenge for this weekends defeat and may well bring in a few new faces. Our match kicks-off at 3pm, but the festivities start at 12.30pm

There is also a MASSIVE Sawston Rugby Club night out planned afterwards so everyone is welcome, win or lose! Cambridge, be warned!
