The Volcano Scores

Another good outing for Sawston seconds on saturday playing a very much improved Wendon Ambo side.

Tries from Richard Lintern, Wayne Grantham (2), Martin, Rob and an awsome score from Little "the Volcano" Jonny saw sawston confortably home in the end although Wendon did give us plenty of scares and were unlucky not to score on several occasions.

Great looking second team captain Bob Tidswell commented after the match "Its been a fantastic season so far, The second team players are all smiles on the pitch and seem to be loving their rugby. we have a no blame culture that allows players to really enjoy themselves. Jonny's Try is a great example - I put him in for a ten yard, unopposed straight run into the corner, but chose to cut back inside, cream through three opposition players and then role over the line - all because its more fun that way"

Special thanks this week go to Colin Hamilton and Ian for playing for the opposition and for all those that appeared on the subs bench Dan K, Jurgen, Andy Dew, Lewis and Sean.

Comment of the day goes to Ryan who was promoted to the first team half way through the second half "I thought I was going to be substituted, which was a bit of a relief, fortunately the first team play at a much slower rate than the seconds - so it was like having a rest!"

There was also a shock in the club later in the Evening that rocked many of us to the core.

Rob Vipers was taking his usual time whilst downing a pint when through boredom Nudger lost concentration and dropped his beer - sending it crashing to the ground. On lookers could barely contain their grief over the 2/3rds of a beer that had been spilled.

Nudger later bravely put out a statement "This has never happened to me before, one minute it was in my hand and then crash - I was gone" now sobbing he continued "what a waste, i know i happens to others but me, I never though it possible" inconsolable Nudge was then led away and the website understands that he is now undertaking extensive therapy...

Glen is yet to score this season.....
