Sawston finish with a Trophy
|
We had a mixed day in the sunshine over at the Shelford 7's on Saturday. We seemed to be in the tough half of the draw and our pool matches saw us pitted against Shelford Firsts, Cantabs Firsts, a big gay London team and Shelford 3rds – not quite what we wanted, although at this stage we were confident that the weeks of training for the tournament would pay off………… Oh crap…….
Our scores throughout the afternoon got better and better. Jamie, Callum, Dan, Justin, Nick, Ryan (nearly), Chris Reed and most of the squad scored throughout the day and after a hard afternoon we had made it into the spoon final against Shelford 4ths. This was the dream tie we had been waiting for and after a few swift scores we had them on the ropes. The final score was 36 – 5. So we won a trophy - or more accurately a case of 18 cans of Fosters – excellent.
I would like to add that despite coming close on the final game of the year – Glen has failed to score a single try all season, nil, nada, no points, nothing, rien, niets, ôßðïôá…, a big fat Zero, it would be a bit like having three apples and then someone taking them all away, Ziltch!!
The next big thing is the Club dinner – so make sure you all attend… 10th May
